Rylan is a part of the Hesquiat Nation, from the west coast of Vancouver Island, and he has been carving since 1987. He frequently works with his father, Patrick Amos, and has completed a 4-year apprenticeship with celebrated Nuu-chah-nulth artist, Tim Paul. He commonly works in red and yellow cedar, as well as alder and yew wood.
