Ivan began carving in 2003 with Kwakwaka'wakw artist, Carl Simeon. He has since worked with artists Matthew James and Ed Simeon, primarily creating masks in red cedar. Ivan also enjoys creating plaques and sculptures. In February of 2008, Ivan graduated from the Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts Program at the Native Education College in Vancouver, which was led by Kwakwaka’wakw/Haida artist, Dan Wallace.
