Darrell White spent much of his early life as a welder and fabricator in Powell River, BC. He left welding and undertook an apprenticeship with his cousin, Haida carver Christian White, in his late 30s. He is known for his argillite carving and his meticulous inlay work. Darrell is largely self-taught, but comes from a long line of artists. He is the great great grandson of celebrated Haida artist Charles Edenshaw, and his sister is well-known painter and print-maker April White.
