2024 Charity Boxes

For the past seventeen years Lattimer Gallery has organized an event to help support the Urban Native Youth Association, a Vancouver organization which has been providing prevention-focused programs and services to Native youth since 1988. UNYA’s work includes advocacy, community development, and providing youth with meaningful opportunities to provide input into their programs and services.

All the work in the creation of these small cedar boxes is donated: the boxes are steam-bent and constructed by Métis/Cree artist James Michels; the promotion and collected funds is donated by Lattimer Gallery; and all the artwork is donated by the artists. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Urban Native Youth Association. To date we have raised over $800,000. We thank the artists and bidders for all their support.

This year we are excited to be holding the final bidding and Artist Reception at the Museum of Vancouver. We will be conducting our silent auction at the gallery as usual from November 23, 2024 to December 7, 2024. For the final bidding this year we will be switching from a silent auction to a live auction, it should make for an exciting event.

Bidding Protocol for the Bentwood Box Charity Auction

Silent Auction:

Each box starts at $200 CAD, with bid increments of $100 CAD.

Bids can be placed in person, by email, or by phone.

A maximum bid can be placed, where our team will place $100 CAD incremental bids on your behalf.

Silent Auction Deadline:

In-person bidding will close at 3:00 PM (Pacific Time) on December 7th.

Email and phone bidding will close at 4:00PM (Pacific Time) on December 7th.

Maximum (absentee) bids will be accepted until 4:30 PM (Pacific Time) on December 7th.

Live Auction and Artist Reception:

Location: Museum of Vancouver, 1100 Chestnut Street.
