Johnny Papigatok comes from a strong lineage of artists. His late grandfather was renowned carver Kububuwa Tunnillie, and his uncle is leading contemporary carver Ashevak Tunnille. His grandmother, Tayara Tunnillie, and mother, Komajuk Tunnillie, are also accomplished carvers. Mostly self-taught, he has been influenced by both his uncle, Ashevak, and his brother, Markoosie Papigatok. Johnny is a very talented young carver who is developing his craft on a daily basis. He utilizes hand tools, and often creates small-scale pieces. He specializes in carvings of dancing bears and small birds. Johnny's work is shown in galleries throughout Canada and the United States.
