Orca Dreams - Acrylic on Wood Panel

Orca Dreams - Acrylic on Wood Panel
20" x 24" x 1 1/2"
Those who know me well know about my fondness for Salish Sea orcas. Throughout the pandemic, I became even more enamored by them. I observed orcas through online whale watching streams, tracked their progress as an endangered species, and celebrated the births of new members of their pods. With so much attention paid to them, they entered my dreams. I had a vivid dream in purple tones where the Salish Sea orca population was vital and healthy. This piece depicts a part of that dream. -Rachel Smith
This piece is for sale as part of the exhibition Emergence, running July 9-23, 2022 at Lattimer Gallery.
