"Stealth and Majestic
I move with grace and refinement
My medicine offers you personal power
And simple grounded self protection
I have a silent confidence and my intentional action
Marks my home range clearly
I fiercely protect my young
I waste no energy in scattered movementand things that do not matter
I am strength and courage
I trust my instincts; I do not second guess
and do not apologize for my greatness
I lead without arrogance
I am the 'Cougar'.

The Cougar is designed in our form lines, with soft graceful lines, with the star on his forehead, which is where all sentient beings connect spiritually to each other, and Mother Earth.

We only have a word for cat in Haida, although in the Caddo, Osage and Shawnee have Cougar/Mountain Lion as one of their clans. The Pueblo view the sentient animal as one of the six true directional guardians associated with the north and the colour yellow with powerful healing and hunting powers.

Also, the Zuni make Cougar fetishes as a talisman for hunting which provides the hunter success and protection."
