Mark Anthony Jacobson

CULTURAL GROUP:
Ojibway

BORN:
1972

BIRTHPLACE:
Sioux Lookout, Ontario

Mark Anthony first started painting and exploring his Ojibway heritage at age thirteen. As an artist, Mark has been painting professionally for over twenty years. He is inspired by the spiritual dialogue with mother nature, examining the relationship between animals, birds, fish, and humanity. In 2008, Mark created a sculpture for the City of Vancouver's Eagles in the City public art project. In 2012, Mark received the American Moonbeam Award for his children's book Ojibway Clans. In 2013, he designed the poster for Aboriginal Awareness Week in Montreal. Mark enjoys the celebration of his culture through the vision of his art, and continues to share about his woodland heritage through his work.
