William White first learned weaving from his aunt, Betty Sampson, and later received formal training through the Alaska Native Heritage Centre. For the last ten years, he has focused on reviving ancient weaving techniques used in producing Chilkat. One of his Chilkat Robes is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver, BC. His work has been exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and throughout the United States. In 2007, William received a British Columbia Creative Achievement Award from the provincial government. William is a director of the Museum of Northern British Columbia in Prince Rupert, BC.
