Peter McKay is from the Orca clan of the Nisga'a Nation. He grew up in the Nisga’a communities of Laxgalts’ap and Gitlaxt’aamiks. His passion is weaving with cedar bark. He has developed and learned several styles of patterns according to the old style hats made by his coastal ancestors. In 2014, Peter participated in Lattimer Gallery's Annual Charity Bentwood Box Event, where he donated a box with an Owl design.
