"The term 'blackfish' refers to the old peoples' language interpretation of the Killer whale. In our language, we say 'ma’xi’nuxwk'. We have many stories of our interactions with them, throughout our history. Some, who now use the blackfish as a clan symbol have deep spiritual and origin stories with them. They are regarded as our family under the sea and greatly respected for their strength and spiritual ways of living."
