Tyson Brown, or Iljuuwaas, grew up surrounded prominent Haida artists, being the grandson of both Billy Stevens and Bill Reid. He focuses on preserving and perpetuating Haida design principles, while maintaining tradition in a relevant body of work. In addition, he had a formal apprenticeship with renowned Haida artist Robert Davidson. He has created prints and two-dimensional works for over a decade, but has recently expanded to other sculptural mediums. Tyson takes inspiration from different aspects of life, and often relates his work to current events, nature, and the history and stories of his people.
