John Wilson is from the Killerwhale clan of the Haisla Nation. He is well on his way to becoming an established carver. John began to carve full-time in 2002, and worked early on with Tsimshian artist Heber Reece. He is primarily inspired by the work of Ron Telek (Nisga'a), Norman Tait (Nisga'a), Klatle Bhi (Squamish/Kwakwaka'wakw), and Henry Green (Tsimshian). In 2008, he completed courses at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art in design and carving. In 2010, he worked with fellow Haisla artist Nathan Wilson. John is dedicated to promoting and researching Haisla art.
