John Cross, Chief of Skidegate, was a carver of gold and silver jewellery, as well as argillite and wood. He was well-known for his totem poles in wood and argillite, as well as being an expert tattooist. His grandsons are artists Pat Dixon, Denny Dixon, and Nelson Cross. John passed away in 1939.
