"This year, for me, the bentwood box represents motherhood as an artist. We just had another one. I'm a new mom again - raising three little frogs with my husband.

The inside of the box went through a transformation by fire. Each child has brought this transformation within my inner being. I'm in it - going through it. With the third, it is clear that time is fleeting: this season is short. It's tough in the moment, but relishing the sleepless nights in parenthood is resilience rooted in love.

This year the box is dedicated to the ancestors. To the moms and dads who raise their children with love. To our children: the future of our art, language, culture, and society.

The Designs: Past, Present, and Future

The human with conjoined tongues is the generational passing down of knowledge.

The hands carry the ability to create art and the two represent the teachings passed through the generations.

The bloodline thread connects us to each other and to our ancestors. Blood holds memory and is passed from mother to child.

The copper is an ancestral design and represents our wealth - wealth that has been passed down since time immemorial."
