Gary Minaker-Russ is from the Eagle Clan with Beaver, Sculpin, Frog, and Black Whale as his crests. He is a carver of poles, sculpture, boxes, bowls, and jewellery using argillite, ivory, and whale teeth. Gary has been carving since 1977, studying with his brother, Ed Russ, and his wife, Faye Russ. His work has been exhibited at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Ottawa, and the BC Provincial Museum. In 2008, Gary was one of fourteen argillite carvers featured in Carol Sheehan’s book Breathing Stone.
