Each September for the past fourteen years, we have provided artists with an open-ended theme and asked them to create the most wild and wonderful works of silver jewellery they can dream up. Our Fall jewellery show is all about allowing artists to exercise their creativity by carving pieces they otherwise would not have the chance to, and in the process, pushing the Northwest Coast jewellery market forward. This Fall's show is titled 'Fins & Flukes: Whale Imagery in Northwest Coast Indigenous Jewellery'. We have invited artists to create one-of-a-kind works centered around the Whale which push beyond its iconic established image into uncharted waters. Expect to see a variety of species bubble-net feeding, spyhopping, lobtailing, and more from a talented group of artists including Dean Hunt (Heiltsuk), Meaghan McRae (Gitxsan), Shawn Edenshaw (Haida/Gitxsan), and Corrine Hunt (Kwakwaka'wakw/Tlingit).
The show opens Friday, September 19th at 10AM PST, and runs until Saturday, October 4th. Pieces will be available to view and purchase in-person at Lattimer Gallery, or online.
