Kolten (Khasalus) Grant was raised in the village of Xwemelch’stn (Capilano reserve), part of the Squamish Nation. He has been making art his entire life and his mentor in carving has been his uncle Klatle Bhi, as well as Kevin Cranmer. He is part of the Baker family who are the House Of Liluwagila from the Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw First Nation (Campbell River area). He was raised in a family strongly rooted in potlatch traditions, which is reflected in his artwork. Kolten was a recipient of the 2025 YVR Artist Award.
