"We call crane Kwak’wani. I’ve been inspired by crane ever since I saw a mask carved by Mungo Martin that’s at the Denver Art Museum. When I was learning I would search collections for inspiration. I’ve always wanted to recreate that crane design, so I took this as my opportunity to put it on this k̓awat̕si (treasure box)."
