Kwamxala’galis Darren Alfred, was born and raised in Victoria until the age of 10, later moving home to Alert Bay. Darren has been a skilled artist since age six, learning from his father, Johnathan Henderson, and uncles, Junior Henderson and Sean Whonnock. He is inspired by a lineage of talented family members, and feels fortunate to create and contribute to the rich heritage of the Kwakwaka'wakw. Darren now resides in Vancouver B.C. And works full time as a cultural health and wellness worker.
