Jennifer Younger is a Tlingit artist from Southeast Alaska. She is best known for the fusion of traditional metal carving with contemporary elements. She employs a variety of unique carving techniques along with innovative material finishes. In 2012, Jennifer was awarded the Master Artist and Apprentice Grant in Traditional Native Arts from the Alaska State Council on the Arts. This gave her the opportunity to work with Nicolas Galanin in the art of metal carving. Upon finishing this apprenticeship grant, Dave Galanin took her under his wing to help her understand more about the Tlingit culture and the art of engraving. In 2016, Jennifer was awarded First Place in the 'Carving & Sculpture Division' at the Celebration Northwest Coast Juried Art Show in Juneau, Alaska. In February of 2016, Jennifer created a piece titled 'Fragmented' as part of the Create, Memory permanent exhibit at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp. In 2019, she was featured in the landmark publication Understanding Northwest Coast Indigenous Jewelry by author Alex Dawkins.
