"Frog's Volcanic Protector' was inspired by the warm hued background glass reminiscent of flames. In Haida art Volcano Woman is often illustrated in human form with tears morphing into frogs that cascade down her face. In this panel she is represented in the luminous glow the background glass develops in day light; she may not be visible, but her protection is all around.

A technical detail, the background glass pieces were cut out of one sheet of glass maintaining the continuity of the flow of the flames. No two sheets of glass are exactly alike. If one piece needed to be adjusted or recut the entire background would have had to be started again with a different glass selection." -Juanita Ens

Stained glass care instructions:

To maintain your stained-glass piece, simply wipe with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth. Do not use vinegar, ammonia (e.g., Windex) or any acid-based cleanser, as these can destroy the solder that is holding the piece together. Do not clean stained glass with an abrasive material as it will remove or scratch the patina on the metal. If needed, water and a mild dish soap, such as Dawn, can be used to wash it. Make sure to gently dry it off immediately after washing to prevent water spots.

Proper hanging of your stained-glass piece is incredibly important. Stained-glass pieces larger than 3" x 3" cannot hang from suction cup hooks and should be hung on vertical lengths of chain from anchored hooks. This will ensure they can be enjoyed for years to come.
